Brief description of the course 

TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language.  It refers to the practice of teaching English for non-native speakers where English is not a primary language.Thus, the aim of TEFL course is to introduce the 3rd year students to the major key concepts related to the field of teaching of English as a foreign language and the major methods and approaches of teaching that marked the history of EFL teaching .

Aim of the course 

The course is divided into two parts. The first part of the course tackles the main key concepts related to the field of teaching and learning. It is prerequisite part as it aims to give an overview of  the field teaching English as a foreign language and  equip the learners with a terminology that help them understand the methods and approaches. The student’s familiarity with the keywords and ideas enables them to grasp the more difficult elements of the course.

The second part of the course covers the main approaches and methods that marked the history of EFL teaching. The aim of this part is to trace the evolution of the teaching of English from the traditional teaching to the modern with the focus on their principles and techniques. It also aims to show how these methods and approaches oppose or complement each other.
